'Bates Motel' season 5 spoilers: Marion Crane expected to be introduced

As reboots of classic horror properties that debuted within weeks of each other, Hannibal and Bates Motel invite comparisons, and while Hannibal only grew in ambition and originality, Bates Motel just seemed to potter along, quite content to spin its wheels until the time came to join up with Psycho. The fifth season is set to air in 2017. It's up to Norma to corral her unstable son and keep him out of trouble as best she can, but that proves to be harder than she could have imagined. Season 5 will see Norman dive even deeper into his mental illness, as well as have to deal with his mother's rotting corpse hanging around his house.

Viewers had to know that Norma was going to die at some point since she's dead in the original film.

In the opening moments of the season finale, viewers found out that Norman (Freddie Highmore) really ended up killing his own mother Norma (Vera Farmiga) in a murder-suicide attempt. "It's the heart of what drives it. That is going to be hugely important in Season 5".

"She's existing now in Norman's brain", Cuse revealed. Cuse said to TV Line.

Since Season 4 went out with a huge bang, it's only natural to expect fans to eagerly tune in each week to see how the final 10 episodes of the series plays out. Also, for those who are hoping to see Dr. Edwards (Damon Gupton) in the season finale, the showrunners have already clarified the rumors. Unfortunately for the fans, there is no information about that so we will just have to wait for the airing of the season finale to find out.

"Bates Motel", a contemporary prequel to the genre-defining film Psycho, will return with ten new episodes that further reveal Norman's continued downward spiral and the effect it has on the family.

We're very happy to be able to tell you guys, right now, that your favorite show was actually renewed for a brand new season 5 way back in June 2015 when season 4 was renewed according to Deadline. If you don't remember, Marion Crane was portrayed by Janet Leigh in Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 original.

Are you sad that Norma was killed off in season 4 of "Bates Motel"?
