Chelsea Clinton stands up for Trump's 10-year-old son on Twitter

The Modern Family star, who often details the amusing antics of her own three sons, posted a few Instagram photos during the ceremony focusing on Barron Trump, the 10-year-old son of the new president and his wife, Melania.

In one of the photos Julie Bowen posted of Barron Trump, the 10-year-old was looking down as readings were taking place before his father took the podium and was sworn in as president.

Julie Bowen made Donald Trump's inauguration more fun to watch, but not everyone appreciated her witty banter. The mother of three said that she just trying to make some light-hearted jokes.

Bowen's first Instagram post in relation to the inauguration was captioned, "I think Barron is on his Gameboy".

Then she posted another screenshot of Barron making a puzzled expression.

She continued the Barron-bashing with her next Instagram post captioned: "Barron, a voting majority shares your horror".

Another photo of Barron showed the boy rubbing his eye. "Hey @CNN! Don't box the Barron!" she wrote. While she thought her commentary was in good fun and witty, others were quick to slam Bowen for her jokes. "You make me laugh weekly. You should feel ashamed bashing a child", read one, while another called her "Disgraceful!" and one commenter said: "Mocking a child, you're PATHETIC".

Some people expressed that they will unfollow the star. Bowen caught wind of the criticism and tweeted back, "I love that Barron is just being a kid. Unfollowing and not watching @abcmodernfam anymore".

Bowen has not commented further on the jokes and has not removed any of the posts. My kids would be a horror show at a public event. However, several Trump supporters later gave her a hard time, leading her to reply that she was "just trying to keep it light".
