The celebrity made a statement on Facebook Wednesday letting his fans know that he's doing okay. Simmons and his Swarovski crystal-studded tank tops were so visible for so many years, it was tough not to notice his "disappearance", which led to several odd rumors (like that he was being held captive by a witch doctor) and a podcast centered around tracking him down. The now-reclusive Simmons took to Facebook earlier on Wednesday to let everyone know he's "not 'missing, '" an obvious reference to the "Missing Richard Simmons" podcast, and says he's "just a little under the weather". TODAY's Hoda Kotb reports.
The report said that there was a auto accident earlier in the week in the same area, but it's unlikely that this had anything to do with Simmons' property since the wreck had already been taken care of.
After an absence from the spotlight, Richard Simmons is speaking out directly to his fans, saying, "Hope to see you again soon!"
"I'm sure there are people in your life who love and care for you and would do anything to help you with the challenges you face". "You know, I do what I want to do as I've always done, so people should sort of just believe what I have to say because, like, I'm Richard Simmons". "Hope to see you again soon!" he concluded.
This whole Richard Simmons thing has been nothing short of freaky.
Simmons" manager Michael Catalano told ABC News on Tuesday that the fitness guru had been hospitalized "at an undisclosed location in California'.
'After a few days of battling severe indigestion and discomfort while eating, we agreed it was best for him to seek treatment, ' he said.
Catalono added: 'He's already feeling better and is expected to make a full recovery'. The company has acquired exclusive rights to represent Simmons for merchandising, endorsements and licensing opportunities.
Simmons was in the hospital at the time the police showed up at his house.
"But it is yet to be determined, I would say".
