Carlstadt plane crash: Building fires as jet goes down near


A private jet has gone down in Carlstadt, New Jersey, according to police, CBS New York reports.

The Federal Aviation Administration said a Learjet 35 from Philadelphia crashed while attempting to land at Teterboro Airport. The aircraft went down about 1/4 mile from the airport in a residential area.

The plane had departed from Philadephia International Airport and was headed to Teterboro. The FAA said that local authorities will release more information.

The FAA is heading to the scene.

Dark smoke was billowing from the several buildings as rescue crews rushed to the scene.

Teterboro Airport has been closed.
