John Wall Confident Wizards Can Win Series, Isaiah Thomas Talks Refs Postgame

Wall had seven points, three assists and two steals during the third-quarter spree that featured eight Celtics turnovers. It's the safe approach.

Thomas, who finished with 19 points on 7-14 shooting in Game 4, said that the officials' treatment of him must change when the second-round series returns to Boston's TD Garden for Game 5 on Wednesday.

Even though the Celtics have their noses in front so far, the Wizards have the chance to level things up in front of their home crowd tonight.

So now the Celtics head home with the series tied 2-2, down to a best-of-three. They took care of business at home, they did what they were supposed to do.

Since watching Thomas light up Game 2 for 53 points, the Wizards have effectively silenced him in the District. They have controlled this thing.

The Wizards shot 13-for-20 (65%) in the quarter and made all 12 of their free throw attempts.

But what about the Wizards' 1-4 road record this postseason? We'd be 3-1 right now.

Houston made 22 3-pointers in a blowout win in Game 1, but had struggled from long-range in its two losses.

"For sure it's going to be hard. I didn't even know it was 26-0", he said. This is what we wanted during the regular season when we was chippy and going at it. So you got to go out there and act like that. Not saying that's the reason why we lost.

The Wizards again outclassed and embarrassed the Celtics on the glass and in the paint. The Celtics have to be concerned. But for the Wizards to make such a quick turnaround at the expense of the Celtics' confidence was quite a surprise.

The victor of this series will likely just be another road bump for the Cleveland Cavaliers as they continue to steamroll through the eastern playoffs, but that doesn't matter for Washington. The Celtics can not afford to throw away two games like they did against the Bulls, making this the most important game in the Brad Stevens era. You have to wonder how much doubt the Celtics must overcome.

"If you turn the ball over against these guys, you'd prefer to drop kick it into the stands so that at least you can set your defense", Celtics Coach Brad Stevens said. "Their attack in transition killed us".

But then came the third quarter downpour by the Wizards to the tune of a 26-0 run that washed away any hopes the Celtics had of victory. That stretch put a damper on Boston's strong start, as it played from behind for the rest of the second half and fell 121-102. The Wizards led by as many as 26 and outscored the Celtics (237-191) in the two games in D.C. And I don't shoot one free throw.

The goal for any team is playing the best when the stakes are highest.

"No matter what, I've gotta play the same way", said Thomas. The series has been perhaps the most entertaining of the second round with all the trash talk and physicality flowing between the two teams. This worked in last year's series against the Hawks and we've seen some success with it this year.

It came at a time in which the Celtics seemed to have control.

Weird stat: when the lower seed is plus-20 or better in a 2-2 series like Washington (plus-24), they've lost all five series since 1984. In the second quarter, the Celtics built a 40-28 advantage.

John Wall started the game shooting 0-for-9 and he found himself on the bench next to Coach Scott Brooks unusually early-at the 3:00 mark of the first quarter to be exact.
