Clashes in Srinagar, police official injured

Students of SP College Srinagar on Monday clashed with security forces outside college premises.

According to reports, students stage protets and started marching towards Lal Chowk but police stopped them triggering clashes.

Students of the S.P. College resorted to heavy stone pelting at the police in Maulana Azad Road area.

Police fired tear gas shells to disperse the stone- pelting students, the official said. The Station House Officer (SHO) of Kralkhud police station was hospitalized after a stone hit his head during clashes.

Meanwhile, the students of Government Higher Secondary School Magam also staged a protest inside the school premises. Find us on Facebook too!

The injured cops have been shifted to police hospital here for treatment, he added.

The clashes went on for a while after which the protestors dispersed. The protesting students are demanding release of their classmates arrested in various educational institutes during the last around four weeks, besides action against security force personnel responsible for allegedly thrashing over 50 students, including girls, during the raid in Degree College Pulwama on April 15.
