Trump Team Knew Flynn Was Being Investigated Before Appointment

Meanwhile, The New York Times reported Wednesday that Flynn informed Trump's transition team that he was under federal investigation before he was hired. The transition's legal team and Flynn's attorney discussed the ongoing investigation again two days later. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said Moscow did not have official contacts with Trump's team during the campaign.

Despite knowing of the investigation, Trump appointed Flynn his first national security adviser.

The White House has not responded to a request for comment on the matter. However, since then administration officials have confirmed there were four meetings between advisers and Kislyak.

Days later, after an article in The Daily Caller revealed that the Flynn Intel Group had a contract with Inovo, a Trump campaign lawyer held a conference call with members of the Flynn Intel Group, according to one person with knowledge of the call.

Contacts took place between April and November 2016.

The contacts between the Trump campaign and Russian government included at least six phone calls between former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Sergei Kislyak.

Medvedchuk denied having any contact with anyone in the Trump campaign. Putin is godfather to Medvedchuk's daughter.

"Oh, I was going to fire regardless of recommendation", he said.

In a letter to acting Federal Bureau of Investigation director Andrew McCabe, the Senate Oversight Committee demanded that all memos and other documents or recordings relating to communications between Trump and Comey be turned over by May 24.

Trump appeared to be taking it badly. The Times noted that the conversations prove that Trump's team knew about the investigation earlier than previously said.
