Qataris Banned From Qantas Flights to Dubai: Airline Executive

The United States, Russia, France, Iran and Turkey have all called for the row to be resolved through dialogue.

Qatar's ruler postponed an address to his country on Tuesday, over its sudden and damaging diplomatic isolation from other leading Arab nations, in order to allow Kuwait some time and room to mediate.

In a sign of the potential consequences for the Qatari economy, a number of banks in the region began stepping back from business dealings with Qatar.

The Government of Djibouti said in a statement that the decision to downgrade diplomatic representation with Qatar was made in solidarity with the global alliance against terrorism and the GCC and Arab countries that joined the move. While it's unclear whether or not Trump was aware of Saudi's plans to cut ties with Qatar, his visit to Riyadh apparently had a tremendous effect on Saudi Arabia and its neighbors. While Trump was quick to claim credit for Saudi's isolation of Qatar with hopes that such a move would become "the beginning of the end to the horror of terrorism", the USA taking Saudi's side in the brewing Qatar-Saudi conflict could potentially cut the Pentagon off using its Qatari military base to actually "end the horror of terrorism" by carrying out devastating airstrikes against terrorist groups in the region.

Federal Bureau of Investigation experts visited Qatar in late May to analyze an alleged cyber breach that saw the hackers place the fake story with Qatar's state news agency, the U.S. broadcaster said. It has spiralled since.

Gargash said Qatar must make an iron-clad commitment to change its policies before talks could begin to resolve the biggest diplomatic crisis in the Gulf region in years.

"They said they would take a hard line on funding... extremism, and all reference was pointing to Qatar".

The official said there were enough grain supplies in the market in Qatar to last four weeks and that the government also had large strategic food reserves in Doha, Reuters reported. Qatar relies heavily on food imports, especially those coming over its only land border with Saudi Arabia.

Disruption to airspace in the Gulf began nearly immediately, with flights into Doha cancelled by Etihad Airways and Emirates, among others.

That means, should the ban hold up, Qatar Airways flights will need to fly through airspace that it is now banned from in order to reach it's home base in Doha.

Separately, the Pentagon thanked Qatar for hosting the largest United States air force base in the Middle East.

Iran shares access with Qatar to the world's biggest natural gas field. The countries also said they would eject Qatar's diplomats.

UAE subjects may be punished by a jail term of up to 15 years for expressing sympathies for Qatar, the Emirati Attorney General warned after key Arab states cut ties with Doha.

Earlier in the day, passengers arriving at BIA have complained that banks at the airport had stopped buying Qatari Riyals.

Qatari nationals will now not be allowed to pass through airports in the UAE even to change planes.
