Shah seeks Sena support for presidential polls


With the Shiv Sena vocally expressing its views independently on the Presidential election, Shah is expected to bring the Maharashtra ally on board for the July 17 poll. Even as the Shah-Thackeray "summit" was announced on Thursday, the Shiv Sena fired missiles at neighboring Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who is struggling with a farmers' agitation. To this, the Sena chief said they would take a call on support after the BJP reveals its choice for president, the source said.

A meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board, the party's highest decision-making body, is underway to deliberate on a nominee for presidential elections next month.

Senior Congress leaders could meet under the chairmanship of Sonia Gandhi if BJP announces its candidature today.

THE Shiv Sena leadership on Sunday made it clear that while deciding to vote for the presidential candidate their preferences would depend exclusively on who the candidate is and nothing else.

"Do you want to say India should not play the Champions Trophy at all", Shah retorted when questioned about Sunday upcoming clash between the two countries at the Champions Trophy finale in London. So, the Shiv Sena is upset with this fact. The Sena chief has kept the BJP waiting.
