Florentino Perez is re-elected as president until 2021 — Real Madrid

Believing he is the target of a vendetta, Ronaldo has informed Real Madrid of his decision to leave and has ordered his representatives "to find him a new club".

Ronaldo starred in Real Madrid's win over Juventus in the Champions League final earlier this month, but it emerged last week that he wants to leave the club this summer amidst allegations of tax evasion in Spain.

Ronaldo's departure from Real, reportedly a given according to a Portuguese newspaper, triggered an avalanche of speculation over the potential destination of the world's highest-paid athlete.

Ronaldo, who is now on worldwide duty with Portugal at the Confederations Cup in Russian Federation, is said to be "outraged" after Spanish prosecutors accused him of defrauding authorities of nearly £13million, an accusation he denies.

Cristiano Ronaldo could be back at Old Trafford next season, claims the Sunday Times, after the Portuguese striker chose to sever all ties with Spain.

Among the clubs reported to be interested in Ronaldo is former club Manchester United for a fee that could hit €200m, with a possible get-out clause of €1bn.

The striker was avoiding talk over his future yesterday after helping Portugal earn a last-gasp 2-2 draw against Mexico in the Confederations Cup.

Florentino Pérez will remain as president of Real Madrid until 2021 after no other candidates ran against him, the Spanish champions announced on Monday.

"But I think that is another reason to doubt this".

He said: "The only thing I can say is Cristiano Ronaldo is a Real Madrid player". I don't see anybody in world football who can substitute for him.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho does not want Cristiano Ronaldo back at the club, the Daily Express reports.

"I haven't spoken with Cristiano, I learned about it because of what came out in the newspapers".

"He likes Manchester United - that is something we all know".
