United Not Sweating Over Real's Revival Of Interest In De Gea

Jose Mourinho's side were heavily linked with Real Madrid striker Morata before completing the signing of Lukaku for a reported £75million.

Herrera said that he had expected to have his Spain teammate Morata alongside him at Old Trafford, and it was "a pity" that a deal had not been done.

Even if one of the BBC are unavailable, there is unlikely to be a spot for Morata in the Real Madrid first team. So of course I saw myself with him.

However, the Red Devils ended their interest in the Spanish striker after they signed Romelu Lukaku.

Morata is certainly a very talented striker - he scored 15 goals in 26 La Liga games last season - while his link-up play is also of a high standard, as demonstrated by the fact that he laid on 17 chances for his team-mates.

"It looks hard for Alvaro Morata to wear a United shirt with the arrival of Romelu", Mata said.

Morata is clear in his understanding that he is not first choice under Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.

Mourinho suggested Lukaku's Premier League experience and his personal relationship with the player from their time together at Chelsea were the primary reasons United sought to buy the Belgium global, the club also having been strongly linked with a deal for Antoine Griezmann before Atletico Madrid's transfer ban nixed the Frenchman's exit. You never know until the end though. "I think he's going to stay", Mata insisted. "Things can happen in the last days of the market, but I wish Alvaro the best".

Whilst Real Madrid accepted a two-year loan and relatively cheap departure for James Rodriguez, they are holding out for 80 million euros for Morata.
