According to preliminary data, the truck which was carrying a pizza, hit a bridge support.
An 18-wheeler crashed and spilled frozen pizzas on Interstate 30 in Little Rock on Wednesday, closing part of the freeway for nearly 4½ hours and causing traffic to back up about 10 miles.
The bridge was not damaged in the incident. "Except for the loss of the pizza, I guess".
A mass load of the pizzas ended up spilling across Interstate 30 in front of the Arkansas Department of Transportation office. Oh, and this video of tractors scooping up frozen pizzas off a highway.
"It made for some very slick conditions, believe it or not", Straessle said.
While the frozen pizzas have been cleared, Straessle said the highway has a "slippery spot" from the combination of the pizza sauce, cheese, pepperoni and spilled diesel.
The portion of the interstate was closed while officials worked to clean the pizzas off of the road.
All lanes of traffic were reopened by 5:30 p.m., more than four hours after the crash.
