Mourinho on Ibrahimovic: It's not something urgent

Ibrahimovic signed a one-year deal in July 2016 and scored 28 times in 46 games in all competitions for United before suffering knee-ligament damage in April in the Europa League win over Anderlecht. He thinks he can do more and wants more at the highest level.

"He's injured, he needs time to recover".

"It's not something urgent, that we are desperate to have it done or not done, I just think that he was very clear by showing what he did a year ago was not enough for him". "It's not something urgent, that we are desperate to have it done or not done".

"It's not because I have always done it [won the title in his second season] that I am going to do it again", he said.

"But I am not a hard person to work with - in spite of it looking different sometimes - and I understand the reality of the market, I understand the reality of the numbers". I will just go with everything I have to try to win every match we play'.

"Because Manchester United is a real giant, it doesn't matter if the club is somewhat far away from that level for three, four, five or 10 years..."

Mourinho told a news conference on Friday: "We have 25 percent left which means one of four - we got a central defender that can play many other positions which is very important".

Ibrahimovic has continued his rehabilitation at United's training ground and has even stuck around to help out some of the younger Red Devils players during preseason, according to midfielder Paul Pogba.

"I also understand that my club by doing 75 per cent of what I initially asked, I think the club did very well so I don't think I am in a position of crying, moaning, protesting, I am not in a position to say I am not happy with it".

"We got a central midfielder, we got a striker".

'Obviously [we wanted] a player for another position playing from the sides, but we have players and if you can not strengthen the team in these areas, we have people that we trust and we go for it'.
