Guardiola wants Manchester City to play like Barcelona - Yaya Toure

"It is going to finish, it is unsustainable", Guardiola said Friday, a day before the start of the Premier League season.

According to Spanish radio station Onda Cero (via the Manchester Evening News' Alex Porter), City are looking to strengthen their midfield following the sale of Fernando and have contacted Barca about potentially buying Busquets.

City's playing staff has undergone a massive overhaul over the last two summer transfer windows after Guardiola took over one of the oldest squads in Europe.

City has spent well and signing of defenders such as Kyle Walker makes this team look very complete.

City dropped 17 points in the Premier League at home last season and finished third behind champions Chelsea and Tottenham. If we have to score more then we will score more.

"The club was clever like that because we anticipated what we needed after last season".

However, City, who start their Premier League campaign at promoted Brighton on Saturday, always meant to give Guardiola time to reload and a pre-season spree has put him in position to get it right this time.

Bernardo Silva, meanwhile, arrived from Monaco, further strengthening a stellar attacking department that also contains Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane, David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling.

Even more so than his old foe Jose Mourinho across town at Manchester United, if Guardiola can not at the very least orchestrate a sustained title challenge, his gilded reputation will take a sizeable hit. It means he can freely switch formations from 3-5-2 and 4-3-3 this season, depending on injuries and opponents. "The current players are young and will stay for the future".
