The Twins used 19 hits to rally from an early 5-0 hole only to have their six-game winning streak broken by Justin Upton's two-run, ninth-inning home run off Matt Belilse in a 12-11 loss to the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. With RHP Brandon Kintzler traded, the Twins don't have a set closer, so Molitor said Minnesota will continue to mix and match at the end of games.
While the Tigers gave up on their season a long time ago, they still have talent and power.
Mauer hit a two-run home run off Edward Mujica in a three-run sixth inning. Singles by Brian Dozier and Max Kepler loaded the bases.

Zimmermann pitched two scoreless innings before allowing five in the third and two in the fourth to fritter away a 5-0 lead. Byron Buxton hit a laser shot that just barely cleared the wall in right field - his sixth home run of the year.
Berrios gave up five runs to Detroit in the first, one on an RBI single by Nicholas Castellanos and four on a grand slam by McCann, his 11th home run and second career slam.
Twins starter Kyle Gibson went 4 2/3 innings giving up 3 runs on 5 hits. Things would tilt back in the Tigers favor from there on. The five-RBI night gave Mauer seven RBIs (and five hits) in the series.
Dillon Gee allowed a sacrifice fly to Upton after Mahtook's one-out triple in the seventh. Detroit pounded out 13 hits and walked twice with Justin Upton, Jose Iglesias and James McCann each going deep and combining for eight RBI's and six runs on five hits. With two outs, Castellanos' infield single scored Mahtook.
Mahtook continued to impress. It was his career-best fifth straight multi-hit game.
