The Bundesliga giants have suspended the 20-year-old "until further notice", just three days after rejecting a bid from Barca for France worldwide.
It must be noted that the Merseyside outfit have already rejected two bids from Barca for their no.10 and the club's owners as well as manager Jurgen Klopp have repeatedly stressed that the attacking midfielder is not for sale at any price.
And Dortmund have now made the decision not to lift the suspension on Dembele, with Sporting director Michael Zorc telling Dortmund's website: 'Our focus now is on a concentrated preparation of the team for the Bundesliga opening match against Wolfsburg in the coming weekend.
"Ousmane Dembele has, of course, the opportunity to train individually, away from the squad".
Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that they have extended Ousmane Dembele's suspension "until further notice".
Dembele believes he has a gentleman's agreement with Dortmund to join a club such as Barcelona but the German side deny such an agreement exists. He told me he was in Paris with his friends.
It remains to be seen if Dembele will succeed in forcing through a switch to Camp Nou, Liverpool having also taken a hard-line approach to Barca's interest in Philippe Coutinho. Rather than replace him, we need to strengthen ourselves.
"There was no sign yesterday that Dembele would not be here today".
We get the impression this saga could roll on all the way until deadline day.
