Powerball Jackpot reaches over $500 million

Powerball Jackpot reaches over $500 million

A store clerk sells a Powerball lottery ticket at his 7-Eleven store in Chicago, Illinois.

Lottery players have a chance to win a Powerball jackpot of $535 million in Saturday night's drawing, which comes to an estimated $340.1 million cash payout.

It is the highest jackpot since the record-setting $1.59 billion jackpot in January 2016. Prizes range from $4 for matching just the Powerball to $1 million for matching all five numbers (but not the Powerball). The 3X Multiplier appeared in Wednesday's Powerball drawing, which increased 15 $50,000 prizes to $150,000 each with Power Play®.

"While it can be fun to play for a big jackpot like this, it only takes one ticket to win", said Alice Garland, the lottery's executive director.

Proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state.

Tickets can be purchased until 10 p.m. Saturday.

The most recent big Powerball win was a $447.8 million jackpot awarded earlier this summer to a single victor in California.
