A three-time All-Star with the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees, the 36-year-old Granderson was batting.228 with 19 home runs and an.815 OPS in 111 games for the Mets.
"I'm excited", Granderson said.
The Mets, who went to the World Series two years ago, are on a rebuild having recently traded Lucas Duda, Neil Walker, Jay Bruce and Addison Reed.
Granderson batted just.228 in 111 games with NY this season but has hit 19 home runs and driven in 52 runs.
L.A. enters Saturday an incredible 52 games over.500 at 86-34 and is on pace for 116 wins, which would tie the 1906 Chicago Cubs and 2001 Seattle Mariners for the most regular season wins in major league history. Granderson gives Los Angeles another option for the outfield along with Cody Bellinger, Yasiel Puig, Chris Taylor and Joc Pederson.
Granderson released his own video statement to fans of the Mets that was posted on the team's Twitter feed. The Dodgers also received cash considerations to offset the approximately $3.8 million Granderson is owed in the final year of a four-year, $60 million contract he signed with the Mets.
Unfortunately, this season the team did not have the results and were not going to play in the postseason, but he certainly enjoyed the last two seasons.
Granderson could find himself in a similar platoon role in Los Angeles, but he will find himself playing October baseball. The Dodgers starting rotation leads the NL in ERA and has not even had its ace Clayton Kershaw the past month.
