Today, they've revealed the all-new campaign mode coming to Gwent, Thronebreaker. To point out some lore: Meve is the reason series main character Geralt's "of Rivia" title isn't just a bluff.
How the new Thronebreaker campaign will fit into The Witcher's game continuity remains to be seen, but CD Projekt said players will "explore new and never before seen parts of The Witcher world, embark on thought-provoking quests, gather resources, and engage in custom-made story battles, which twist the game's rules in wildly unexpected ways".
A huge amount of money is on the line for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game players.
Some gameplay footage taken from the official Gwent website is seen above, giving us a glimpse at how the game will portray the world of Witcher in its own way.
But news of a campaign was accompanied by another announcement.
The Gwent Masters Pro Ladder season will get underway on September 1. Basically, you won't be playing regular games throughout this mode. By proving you're the best, you become eligible for prizes.
Gwent, the in-universe card game from The Witcher 3, has been in beta as a standalone game since last May. Find out everything there is to know in the video below. No word on when it will arrive, but estimation is by the end of this year or early next year.
The story campaign for GWENT is slated for a release later this year on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Originally, GWENT was announced as eventually featuring deep, time-consuming, story-driven content at the level fans can comfortably expect from Witcher III developer CD Projekt Red.
