In Hart's Saturday night post, he apologized to his wife Eniko Parrish for "a bad error in judgment" that put himself "in an environment where only bad things can happen, and they did".
He also added: "It is a sh*tty moment when you know you are wrong and there's no excuses for your wrong behavior".
The video was captioned: 'Sending so many apologies to my wife & kids. While the tape is not a traditional celebrity "sex tape", it is described as a "prelude" to the act.
Kevin went to Instagram to pour out serious feelings to his wife and kids for making a huge mistake.
He did say he wouldn't let someone reap financial benefits from mistakes he has made.
The Ride Along star ended the video with the following: "At the end of the day, I just have to do better". But I'm also not going to allow a person to have financial gain off of my mistakes and in this particular situation that was what was attempted.
In a further update by TMZ it's claimed there are three clips in total; one appearing to show Hart getting cozy with a woman in a nightclub.
The second clip cuts to a bed, where you don't see the people in the bed but hear it creaking and someone getting slapped.
Comedian Kevin Hart is very sorry for an bad thing that he did. The comedian's rep told the publication that someone tried to extort a huge sum of money from him by threatening to release the video.
Hart, who has two children with ex-wife Torrei Hart - 12-year-old daughter Heaven and nine-year-old son Hendrix - is expecting a son with Eniko, who he celebrated his one-year wedding anniversary with last month.
