Lewis Hamilton Wins Crash-Filled 2017 Singapore F1 Grand Prix, Extends Lead

Accelerating through the opening straight, Vettel was involved in a three-way collision with team-mate Kimi Raikkonen and Red Bull's Max Verstappen.

Lewis Hamilton took a firm grip on the 2017 F1 World Championship battle despite starting four spots behind his biggest rival and fifth on the Singapore Grand Prix grid.

The effort that went into that lap was apparent as Vettel let out an adrenaline-fuelled whoop on the team radio and he was initially breathless as he answered questions on the main straight immediately after getting out of his vehicle. Get the app and get the game.

"I think mainly Sebastian started squeezing me", Verstappen said. I hoped I would get to race Sebastian at the beginning.

"I tried to back out of it because I could see it coming, but the rear tyres are wider than the front so I couldn't back out of it anymore", he added.

Valtteri Bottas has +750 odds to win on Sunday and those are very good odds for the third-place driver in the standings.

"I'm happy not only I retired but all three of us so we all have a bit of pain".

Having started from fifth, on one of the toughest tracks in Formula One for overtaking, Hamilton could not believe his luck.

Vettel's recklessness was even more pointless, because Raikkonen is his teammate and Verstappen is not close to being in the title race.

See them trying to deal with durians and don't forget to catch them in action on the Marina Bay Street Circuit this weekend.

"The vehicle, the way it's designed, for years it just doesn't work particularly that great here", said the triple champion whose Mercedes team have a chequered history at the twisty Singapore track.

"It's just our auto does not like this characteristics of this circuit and it's something we need to improve for next year".

Hamilton now leads Vettel by 28 points in the drivers' championship, with 263 points to Vettel's 235. I am racing Max and Daniel.

"By letting people that are following me know, maybe I can encourage a couple of people to do the same thing". If I make a mistake myself and go off, that's a different story.
