Texas woman accused of shooting sleeping boyfriend, dismembering him

A woman in Texas faces murder charges after investigators say she shot her boyfriend in his sleep then dismembered his body and threw the remains in a dumpster.

The gruesome attack took place on August 16, 2017, at the Briarwood Village Apartments in Baytown.

According to detectives, Sutton and the victim got into an argument earlier in the evening and later while the victim was sleeping, Sutton shot him in the head, killing him. A few people told authorities that Sutton admitted to killing Coleman and reportedly claimed that she chopped him up because he was too heavy for her to lift. They believe her 10-year-old daughter was at home at the time of the murder.

"How did we not hear anything?"

Two days after the crime, Sutton reported Coleman was missing at the Baytown Police station. "As far as a motive as to why she would do this, we just don't know".

It happened sometime before she reported him missing on August 16 and then stopped cooperating with investigators. "Heard nothing at all", Mikki Rogers, who lived downstairs from the apartment, told KHOU.

"There's always been smiles, talk, no signs of anything that would indicate something like this", added Donald Wooten, another neighbor.

Sutton was arrested Thursday in Louisiana, following a police investigation. In an interview with detectives, one of Coleman's friends told detectives that Coleman "told her on numerous occasions if he was ever to go missing, she needed to make sure police looked into [Sutton] as the cause", according to court documents.
