NY Lawmakers Arrested in Protest Outside Trump Tower

Four Latino Democratic politicians were arrested outside Trump Tower in NY on Tuesday while protesting the president's actions on immigration and calling for legislation to protect young undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S.as children.

The lawmakers and advocacy groups are pressing Trump to work with Congress to pass a "clean" version of the DREAM Act granting undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S.as minors a path to citizenship, without including border security measures meant to placate immigration hawks.

Reports came out through Grijalva's campaign account that the Arizona congressman was taken into custody along with New York Congressman Adriano Espaillat and Illinois Congressman Luis V. Guiterrez.

Trump recently announced that the Deferred Action for Child Arrivals program, which defers deportation for non-citizens who arrive in the United States as children, will end.

A video posted online shows Mark-Viverito in plastic handcuffs being led onto a Department of Corrections bus.

"We have to protect all immigrants", Mark-Viverito said, arguing that Trump's immigration agenda "is ripping families apart". Trump's policy goes against what the majority of this nation supports and believes in.

"'Since day one, the Trump Administration has threatened Latinos, Muslims, LGBT, women and the list continues", Person said.
