The developer celebrated reaching one million players with a horde-like survival mode and followed it up with the Battle Royale mode Epic says was directly inspired by H1Z1 and PUBG.
The 100-player PVP mode in Fortnite will be completely free for everyone from 26th September.
Epic Games has also noted that the game mode will be free and will not sell any item "that gives a competitive advantage" but, "at some point in the future we will sell other things including cosmetics or compendium-like content".
The mode is now in public test, and will launch next Tuesday (September 26), handily beating PUBG to market on consoles.

"We launched a public test and it worked better than we expected", said Epic. Console players can download it through the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store.
