IPhone 8 makes its major market debut -- in Japan

It includes the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus that arrived Friday, plus the far pricier, more advanced iPhone X scheduled to arrive six weeks later, which many Apple investors expect to be this year's blockbuster.

Fortunately, Forbes has done head-to-head comparison of the 8 and the X over the displays, speed, size, feel and other features. The company launched three new iPhones - iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and its tenth anniversary iPhone dubbed iPhone X. All three new iPhones were launched at an event held in the company's new Apple Park campus, also called "spaceship" campus.

The new smartphones went on sale across Asia and in the United Kingdom today but the crowds outside shops were not seen as big as at past launches, according to news reports, possibly because the flagship - and most expensive - iPhone X won't go on sale until November. But the usual excitement is expected to be muted this year, with many customers choosing to wait until November to upgrade to the more expensive iPhone X.

The launch day line-up reported at an Australian Apple Store is described by Reuters as "weak", with less than 30 people in line compared the hundreds who would usually be there for a new iPhone.

The price tags are an increase from last year's iPhone 7 and 7 Plus; in addition, in the United States the iPhone X 64GB model costs $999 while the 256GB model costs $1,149. Jeremy Kirkland, a 32-year old marketer from Brooklyn, N.Y., woke at 2:45 a.m. on September 15-when Apple started allowing preorders-to buy an iPhone 8 Plus.

In related news, Director Arthur D. Levinson sold 35,000 shares of the business's stock in a transaction that occurred on Monday, August 7th.

The big-screen variant of iPhone 8, the iPhone 8 Plus too comes in the same storage variants - 64GB and 256GB. Fully charged this will deliver 6.96Wh of energy, down from 7.45Wh with the 1,960mAh iPhone 7 battery, and little more than half of the 11.55Wh offered by the 3,000mAh Samsung Galaxy S8 battery.

Either Apple built up a massive iPhone 8 inventory, or iPhone 8 sales are going to disappoint. Both the cameras are 12MP and support OIS. "So I decided I must switch (to new iPhone) without hesitation".

"It's normal. It's not all that different from the 7", said Duan Mengliang, a 25-year-old hotel worker.
