Porsche races into Netflix-style subscription model

If you're willing to splurge, say to the tune of $3,000 per month, you'll have unfettered access to 22 different Porsche models, including a Porsche 911 Carrera S and the Panamera 4s sports sedan.

The service offers on-demand access and white-glove delivery to its entire lineup of vehicles for a monthly fee.

If you want the richer pickings of Porsche's range, you'll need to cough up for Porsche Passport Accelerate. Expansion into other markets will be determined after feedback from Atlanta customers, a company spokesperson told The Verge on Tuesday. Once approved, you'll be charged a one-time activation fee of $500, and accounts are subject to a background and credit check. For instance, along with vehicle tax and registration, Porsche will be covering both insurance and maintenance. "With Porsche Passport, we now offer our customers a simple and flexible driving solution at their fingertips". When you want a new auto, you can schedule either a future or same-day swap. Upon approval, members may begin to have cars delivered anywhere in the Atlanta metropolitan area starting November 2017.

For now, this is a pilot program and will take off once Porsche continues to grow the program in the future. Passport will allow Porsche drivers the freedom to choose which model appeals to their particular desires for the short term, and swap for another model depending on their needs.

Porsche is looking for a way to reach younger consumers whose shopping and transportation habits have been shaped by Silicon Valley giants like Uber Technologies Inc. and Airbnb Inc.

The chance to roll around town in a Porsche Cayman one day and a Boxster the next is just a dream for most. They, in turn, work to provide Porsche customers with a best-in-class experience that is in keeping with the Porsche brand's almost 70-year history of leadership in the advancement of vehicle performance, safety, and efficiency.

At the core of this success is Porsche's proud racing heritage that boasts some 30,000-plus motorsport wins to date.
