Arby's Wildly Popular Venison Sandwich to Return Nationwide October 21

The fast food chain announced Wednesday that it will be selling its popular venison sandwich at all 3,300 restaurants nationwide starting on October 21 after having released it in five states previous year.

The sandwich will be available on Saturday, Oct. 21, at every Arby's location in the country, which includes one on Aramingo Avenue in Kensington, one in Northeast Philly and several in the surrounding suburbs.

The venison sandwiches were a sensation a year ago, selling out in a matter of minutes in the stories where they were available.

"The positive response to our limited offering of venison a year ago was so widespread and passionate that we knew we had to find a way to offer it nationwide", Jim Taylor, Chief Marketing Officer of Arby's Restaurant Group, said in a statement. Heck, you can walk into most locations of Bareburger and find things like elk, lamb, and duck patties all under one roof. Taylor told WHAS it took a year to secure enough meat for the promotion, and he recommends customers get to Arby's early on the 21st if they want to try it.

After releasing the sandwich-made with thick-cut venison steak, topped with crisped onions and a juniper berry sauce, and served on a toasted roll-to coincide with the start of hunting season previous year, Arby's received an overwhelmingly positive response from customers. The venison (that's deer meat, by the way) is marinated in garlic, salt, and pepper, then cooked for three hours until juicy.

In a news release, Taylor called the venison sandwich "a ideal example of the level of innovation coming from our teams and our commitment to creating experiences that guests can only get at Arby's". The chain also will offer elk sandwiches at restaurants in Thornton, Colorado, Casper, Wyoming, and West Billings, Montana.

The sandwich is targeting "hunters and meat enthusiasts" according to the release.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves: What's the Venison Sandwich all about? The juniper berry sauce is a Cabernet steak sauce infused with juniper berries, giving the already unique sandwich another signature twist.
