This morning, Aston Martin unveiled the new DB11 Volante, luxury convertible that is part of a resurgence of the British luxury carmarker that has been enjoying skyrocketing sales of its DB11 coupe, which it introduced earlier this year.
Built on the same aluminum bonded structure, the Volante is created to be lighter and sportier than its somewhat plodding predecessor. It generates 503 horsepower and 513 lb-ft. of torque.
The new convertible joins the DB11 Coupe which was launched, and is built around the same all-new bonded aluminium structure.
We were somewhat less than impressed with the Coupe's interior, which had too much plastic and too much Mercedes DNA.
Aston Martin say they have added an innovative new aerodynamic feature called "Curlicue" alongside the new wood or carbon fibre veneers panels on the seat backs.
Buyers will be able to choose from three soft top colors: bordeaux red, black silver or grey silver.
Aston has stuck with a folding fabric roof for the Volante, which takes 14 seconds to fold - electrically, of course - and can go up or down at speeds up to 31mph - so plenty of opportunity for High Street posing. More usable rear seats, for the first time with ISOFIX points for child seats, more room, more comfort and more refinement, plus the quality and electronics re-invention ushered in by the DB11, are all evident here.

Aston Martin has pulled the covers off a convertible version of its DB11 grand tourer. The convertible roof also features acoustic and insulation materials and new eight-layer cossets to protect occupants from extreme weather and drown out wind noise.
The new model is created to be lighter and sportier than its predecessor while still adding interior space and comforts that a well-heeled Aston Martin owner may expect.
Deliveries of the Aston Martin DB11 Volante in the US are scheduled to begin during the second quarter of 2018 and will be priced from $220,385 including destination.
