Dodgers, Padres Reportedly Will Play Series in Mexico Next Season

The games will take place during the 2018 regular season from May 4th to May 6th in Monterrey, Mexico.

The three-game series will be the third regular season series ever to be played in Monterrey.

It's the first time that regular-season games have been played in Mexico since 1999, when the Padres and Colorado Rockies played in Monterrey on Opening Day.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres will play a three-game series at Monterrey, Mexico, from May 4-6. Then, the Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks opened the season with two games in Australia, with Los Angeles claiming both games.

The games had been originally scheduled for San Diego's Petco Park, and the shift to Estadio de Beisbol was announced Monday.

The series will be the Dodgers first trip outside the USA or Canada since 2014 when they played two games in Sydney, Australia against the Arizona Diamondbacks. In game three of that series, one of the more memorable moments in Padres lore occurred.

Padres first baseman Wil Myers was also quoted in the news release: "We look forward to playing in Mexico in front of some of the most passionate and knowledgeable baseball fans in the world".
