At least four governors and some traditional rulers welcomed the president during his first visit to the region since he was elected in 2015.
President Muhamadu Buhari has began a tour of Southeastern states in the country.
He assured the people of South East of his administration's commitment to execute projects that will lead to the fast-tracking of development in the region.
"When I met with leaders of the south east last month in Abuja they raised several issues of concern including the state of roads in the region".
"I will again assure the people of the southeast that we are investing in infrastructure projects that are of critical importance to the region: the Second Niger Bridge, the East-West Road, the Coastal Rail, power projects - these and more will benefit the region and unlock economic potential".

"We want to thank you for your assistance in areas of agriculture, harnessing of mineral resources among other areas of the state's development".
Addressing leaders of thought and traditional rulers at a meeting in Government House, Abakiliki when he visited Ebonyi State, the president commended Ebonyi people for the warm reception accorded him during the state visit. Some of the projects I commissioned since my arrival are laudable.
President Buhari was received by Enugu, Abia and Ebonyi state governors as well as top security officials.
The president had earlier inaugurated the 14.5km Abakiliki-Afikpo federal road constructed by the Ebonyi State government.
"Such an act of accommodation is what translates a mere leader to a great father of the Nation", he said.
