Jack Swagger signs with Bellator MMA

Former WWE star Jack Swagger will try to reinvent himself with a new career in MMA after signing a contract with Bellator, according to Marc Raimondi of MMA Fighting.

Amusing enough, Hager's bracket in wrestling that year also featured future UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, former Bellator champion Cole Konrad as well as current American Top Team wrestling coach Steve Mocco. Swagger has been working on the independent scene since departing WWE earlier this year. Swagger said he's wanted to do MMA for a long time and had been negotiating with Bellator since the summer, finalizing terms with them over the weekend.

"I have been training for months now getting into shape but it's been ten years since I competed at amateur wrestling levels", he said in October, per Brent Brookhouse of FloSlam. I've felt a lot of love from Bellator.

Bellator has sent out a press release hyping up the signing of Jake Hager.

Scott Coker, the president of Bellator, beleives that Hager would bring a new set of fans into MMA due to his history with the WWE.

He is expected to make his MMA debut in 2018.

In recent years, the likes of CM Punk and Dave Bautista also attempted to excel in the octagon, but to no avail.

Another pro wrestler is trying their hand at mixed martial arts.
