Although its new release date is yet to be announced, this change in plans might have given another film a little breathing space.
We all have been waiting to see Kapil Sharma back on TV and here is good news for his fans. Oye Firangi reunited Kapil with his old co-stars Kiku Sharda and Chandan Prabhakar and also Navjot Singh Sidhu. It was like mini-reunion of the "The Kapil Sharma Show". Says a source from the team, "The film has been sent to the CBFC (Central Board Of Film Certification), but it has not been certified yet". Helmed by Rajiv Dhingra, Firangi is produced by Kapil Sharma and also stars Ishita Dutta in lead role. CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi had Monday said that the board should be given adequate time to come up with a balanced decision about the movie.
Kapil Sharma's Firangi was earlier scheduled to hit the screens on November 24 but the filmmakers had to shift the date to December 1, which was originally reserved for Deepika Padukone's Padmavati, which in turn has been deferred indefinitely. But as soon as Padmavati was postponed until further notice, the makers of Firangi and Tera Intezaar seized the much suitable date. The certification might happen today. But Firangi, set in the backdrop of India in the 1920s under the British rule comes across as a very different film.
