Musk to launch a Tesla into space

With 27 rockets and the ability to launch nearly three times the amount of payload into orbit SpaceX is hoping its new rocket will become the gold standard for sending equipment and humans into space.

Musk said past year that there was too little cooperation between Tesla and Space Exploration Technologies Corp.to justify merging the two, dismissing the idea that had been raised by one of Jonas's colleagues as "quite tenuous".

"'Falcon Heavy" to launch next month from "Apollo 11' pad at the Cape [Cape Canaveral, Florida]". Company executives previously spoke of how hard it is to build such a large rocket-powered by three Falcon 9 cores, meaning it has thrice the thrust of original Falcon 9. The business tycoon has also divulged that Falcon 9's more powerful sibling will carry his personal midnight cherry Tesla Roadster to space. The new vehicle will be the most powerful rocket in production, capable of carrying more than 63 metric tons of cargo to low-earth orbit-or almost 17 metric tons to Mars. In 2020 at the original SpaceX demo launch of the Dragon spacecraft, Elon Musk released a large cheese wheel in honour of Monty Python's legendary "Cheese Shop" sketch. The rocket was originally supposed to take flight back in 2013 or 2014, but its maiden flight is now pegged for January 2018.

SpaceX's Falcon Heavy rocket will carry aloft a Roadster sports vehicle owned by Musk as payload when it fires toward Mars orbit for its maiden voyage.
