Lionsgate Cuts John Travolta's Gotti Biopic Just 10 Days Before Release

Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films is expected to begin meeting with other distributors about "Gotti". Gotti was not set to receive a wide release under Lionsgate, which was intending to put the film out via its Lionsgate Premiere label, which handles limited theatrical and day and date with VOD releases. It's directed by Kevin Connolly ("Entourage"), and written by Lem Dobbs ("The Limey") and Leo Rossi.

Travolta portrays John Gotti, the flaboyant head of the Gambino crime family who spent the last decade of his life in prison.

Producers Emmet/Furla/Oasis are looking for a new distributor but it's highly unlikely one will be found before December 15th.

Lionsgate made a decision to sell the rights to the story back to production company Emmett/Furla/Oasis, reports state.

The Tracking Board first reported the film's removal from schedule and resale. Entertainment Weekly speculated that the release will now occur sometime in 2018.

Travolta is joined by his wife Kelly Preston and their daughter Ella Bleu Travolta, as well as Pruitt Taylor Vince, Stacy Keach, Chris Mulkey, Lydia Hull and rising star Spencer Lofranco.
