Positioned as a street bike with solid racing DNA, the company is expecting around 10,000 units in combined domestic and global sales from the Apache RR 310. There's also tricolour detailing at the front which doesn't look out of place.
First teased as the "Akula" - meaning shark in Russian - two years ago, the Apache RR 310 has been designed with an eye to track performance, and draws on the company's 35 years of track experience. "We are confident that customers will find it to be a ideal combination of racecraft technology and riding dynamics". The Apache RR 310 gets a smooth back segment with seating for two and an intriguing LED back light. The fuel tank flaunts the TVS horse logo in a bold silver finish on either side.
Chennai-based TVS Motor Company has signalled its foray into the super-premium segment of the two-wheeler market with the global unveiling of its new bike TVS Apache RR 310. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The rear sprocket too is altered from 40 teeth on the BMW to 42 teeth on the TVS. It is claimed to do zero to 60 kmph in just 2.3 seconds.
The price of Apache RR 310, the company's most powerful and expensive bike so far, will vary from State to State. This includes the alloy wheels, exhaust system, golden-finished KYB front forks and rear monoshock that are set up on the stiffer side. While there is no difference in the rake and trail of the Apache and G 310 R, the wheelbase is 10mm shorter, at 1365mm, and the seat height is 25mm higher, at 810mm, in the former. Braking duties are taken care of by a 300mm front and a 240mm back pearl plate brake, and a double channel electronically monitored slowing mechanism (ABS) is additionally standard for safe ceasing at any speed. "We have the current Apache range - 160cc, 180cc and 200cc motorcycles - and in the upto-200 cc naked bikes segment we are growing at around 28% while the market is growing 10-12%". The TVS Apache RR 310 contended with any semblance of the Kawasaki Ninja 300, KTM RC 390, Benelli 302R and the Yamaha R3 which will be re-launched soon.
