That intrigue got the best of First Lady Melania Trump and Karen Pence, the wife of Vice President Mike Pence on Wednesday. And if there's anything politicians (or in this case, politicians' spouses) love to do when they're on a visit, it's make a stop at a purveyor of local cuisine. The rest of their order is unknown (so far), but the tweets about the pit stop are quite a journey.
But before leaving Corpus Christi, the first lady and the second lady stopped at Whataburger's flagship location for some lunch.
Officials in Texas approved. They also visited the family's new Manufactured Housing Unit, provided by FEMA, which will serve as the family's temporary residence until they can move into a new, rebuilt home. They also traveled to Rockport, Texas, to meet with a family whose home was destroyed in the storm.
"I want to thank Mario and Rosemary Zamorano, and your wonderful children for allowing us to tour what was once your family home", Trump said to the couple. The women also visited an elementary school and food bank.
The first lady traveled to Corpus Christi with her husband on August 29, just days after the Category 4 storm struck Aransas and Nueces counties.
"The effects of the hurricane season are still being felt throughout southern portions of the United States and in Puerto Rico, and residents still need our help", Trump shared in a White House release. "Our thoughts and prayers remain with the people of Texas".
