Kidnappers of PDP Chairman demand 100m ransom

Former Nigerian Sports Minister and Plateau State Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Damishi Sango has been kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Wednesday evening along the Kafanchan- Abuja highway.

"To say the least I am most saddened by this act of inhumanity to man that must be condemned totally".

He said the Plateau Command was working in synergy with the Kaduna office to rescue the victims and possibly arrest those behind the incident.

The abductors were said to have abandoned the vehicle in which the quartet was travelling and forced them into their own vehicle.

Aliyu Mukhtar, spokesman of the command, told TheCable that the police received a distress call around 6pm on Wednesday.

The five were on their way to attend the PDP national convention in Abuja.

Tyopev urged members of the public with any useful information to contact the Kaduna or Plateau Command. The kidnappers made contact with Sango's family yesterday afternoon and demanded N100 million ransome.

They were seen making final preparations for the movement of delegates of the party to Abuja for participation in tomorrow's national convention of PDP.

"We have not heard anything since they were abducted; all we know is that the vehicle in which they traveled is now at the police station", he said.
