The Millionaire Raffle, which debuted in 2006, grows in popularity every year because there are guaranteed winners and it offers the best odds to win $1 million, lottery officials said.
LOTTO bosses have revealed the victor of Ireland's Millionaire Raffle bought their ticket in Wexford.
According to the Irish Times, the former Republic of Ireland under-21 worldwide received the winning ticket in the post from his godfather and uncle Peadar Murphy, a native of Castlebridge, County Wexford. Take Preston defender Kevin O'Connor for example, who managed to win a lottery jackpot over Christmas despite not even playing the bloody thing!
The ticket itself was purchased at Flannagan's supermarket in Castlebridge on December 14.
And they aren't the only winners.
"I've worked here for 11 years, and this is the biggest victor I've seen come out of here", she said. "I was delighted and drove down to the shop straight away, wondering who it might be".
Christmas Millionaire Raffle ticket number 306241 won €250,000. When he [Kevin] came into the supermarket along with his girlfriend it was the very same Kevin of old. The windfall is now to be collected in person from the National Lottery headquarters in Dublin.
The full-back is expected to be part of the squad for Saturday's FA Cup tie with Wycombe Wanderers.
