Former world champ Khan to return to ring

Khan (31-4 record in boxing) has not fought in the ring since he was infamously knocked out by Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in May 2016.

'It reminded me that boxing is what I love and of my passion for becoming a champion again'.

AMIR KHAN admits he thought his boxing career was over a year ago when a fight against Manny Pacquiao fell through.

That humbling experience also focused Khan on ending his feud with his previous promoter, Eddie Hearn, who he had accused of being the "unlikeable" barrier to a long-awaited domestic blockbuster of a fight with Kell Brook.

Khan's opponent for his next bout at the Echo Arena in Liverpool has not yet been named, but Hearn said a "super fight" late this year is on the cards amid talks of a showdown with fellow Englishman Kell Brook. "Boxing is everything for me and I will make sure I achieve the highest goals", Khan said.

The Bolton boxer was speaking at the official announcement of his shock link-up with old foe Eddie Hearn at Matchroom.

"I'm determined to win another world championship and I'm confident I've got the right team behind me to help me do so".

'That's one of the reasons why I keep away from Eddie Hearn and his shows, I just don't want to be in that drama'.

"He [Hearn] is the best in boxing, he's on top of his game at the moment and I know I can get to where I need to get to with him".

'He's very disrespectful and he's never come clear with me.

"When Pacquiao went and I heard Kell Brook went up a weight I thought "where do I go from here". I have no more time to lose. Eddie, in my view, is the best promoter in the UK.

It will also be five years since Khan last fought in the United Kingdom, and since then Hearn has repeatedly tempted to lure him into a fight with rival Kell Brook, contributing to the tension between them.

With the two British brawlers now under the same stable it's now believed that the much-anticipated fight may finally happen this year.

The Khan marriage had hit the hard place between mutual, lurid accusations with Khan alleging that his wife had an affair with world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, with whom he will now be a stablemate in Hearn's Matchroom promotions.

"His name is bigger because he has fought more big names [than Brook]". And April 21 is going to be a lot of fun.
