Starz Announces John Wick TV Series The Continental

Franchise newcomer Chris Collins (who developed a name for himself through Sons of Anarchy, The Wire, and The Man in the High Castle) will be heading the series as showrunner. Stahelski will also direct the first episode.

John Wick is the latest feature film to get the small-screen treatment. A John Wick: Chapter 3 has been confirmed to be in the works.

Starz this morning announced that it has teamed with sibling Lionsgate TV to developThe Continental, a television series adaptation of the highly successful John Wick Lionsgate film franchise.

"You can expect to see [Reeves] at some point in the series", said Starz Managing Director Carmi D. Zlotnik at the channel's Television Critics Association presentation.

We've been hearing about a potential John Wick spin-off series ever since I interviewed Chapter 2 director Chad Stahelski this time a year ago.

This announcement obviously would extend the Wick universe, but the main question fans are curious to know is what's going to be Keanu Reeves' role? The Continental will be a series about the film's hotel chain built for assassins. John Wick co-director and John Wick: Chapter 2 director Chad Stahelski, franchise screenwriter Derek Kolstad, John Wick co-director David Leitch, Basil Iwanyk, Keanu Reeves, and Collins will serve as executive producers.

"The shows and the movies exist side-by-side", Starz President and CEO Chris Albrecht added. I think the world is very vast, and everything I've heard from it is very positive. "The Continental promises to include the thunderous fight sequences and intensely staged shootouts between professional assassins and their targets that fans have come to expect in the John Wick movie franchise as well as introduce some new, darkly compelling characters who inhabit this underground world".

Starz is a Lionsgate company and Lionsgate releases the John Wick films.
