Pakistan are without five players, who could not get the visas in time to travel to UAE for the match. Batting first Pakistan scored a total of 282 runs in their quota of 40 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. Mohammad Jalil made 90 before he was retired hurt.

In reply, India comfortably chased down the target in 34.5 overs. For India, Venkateshwara Rao scored a half century. Haryana boy Deepak Malik (B3) was once again the star performance as he remained unbeaten scoring 79 off 71 Balls, striking eight boundaries.

The world cup is being played in Pakistan and India but the match between two arch-rival teams moved to a neutral location after Indian government refused to send its team to Pakistan.

After opening their campaign against the Australians, the Indians will take on Papua New Guinea on February 16 at Mount Maunganui before facing Zimbabwe at the same venue on January 19.

"We played four friendly matches in New Zealand and defeated Bangladesh".

The final set of preparation games are scheduled for Thursday with former champions Australia taking on South Africa, Canada clashing with Ireland, India up against Kenya and England facing Sri Lanka.
