It started around 9:40 p.m. Friday night when authorities received reports of an armed subject on board a bus from Milwaukee to Chicago.
Illinois State Police were notified of a pursuit out of Wisconsin involving the bus, police said.
Our sister station WMAQ-TV in Chicago reports that there was a pursuit of a bus in Wisconsin, and troopers responded once it crossed into IL.
Traffic was closed in both directiions on the interstate while police continue to investigate, the Daily Herald reported. The ordeal started near Milwaukee when police said they got a call from someone on board the Greyhound bus. About 50 people on the bus were removed and eventually brought to Chicago, the Greyhound spokesperson said.
Initially, authorities reported a "possible hostage situation".
Because of this incident, all lanes of southbound I-94 near Wisconsin 50 in Kenosha County were shut down. Stay with WISN 12 News for updates.
