Toyota is the latest automaker that will feature Amazon's voice-activated virtual assistant Alexa in its vehicles. Other models will also get Alexa support beginning in 2019.
"As Vuzix' next earnest step into consumer-grade augmented reality, the Vuzix Blade AR glasses will undoubtedly blaze the trail toward logical, approachable AR for everyone, with Amazon's Alexa digital assistant steering the wheel".
Amazon's intelligent assistant Alexa will be going for a ride in select Toyota and Lexus vehicles later this year.

Toyota suggests a number of ways users could use Alexa in the vehicle, such as for taking notes and setting reminders, activating apps, or for controlling other smart devices, such as the heating and cooling on your house.
Voice control has been available for quite some time in Android Auto equipped cars, but the actual assistant will provide a little more functionality and usability.
The Amazon Alexa service will supplement, rather than replace Toyota's own, onboard voice recognition system which can be used to plug a destination into the car's navigation system or change radio stations, among other things. "It's still really day one for us in terms of what we can do with Alexa in the vehicle", said John Scumniotales, head of products for Alexa's automotive efforts, onstage at a CES event.
Several automakers, notably including Ford, are taking advantage of Alexa's ability to conduct e-commerce. The Marketplace already allows a driver to order beverages and food from some partners, while also reserving a hotel room or an airline ticket.
