The rope that the jawans were using to eject from the helicopter broke and they fell on the ground.
It is reported by the media sources that Three Army personnel were injured during a security drill at the Army's parade ground in New Delhi.
Following the incident, the Army has suspended slithering operations involving ALH Dhruv till a probe is completed, the sources said. A video that is going viral on the internet shows three soldiers sliding down the rope attached to the helicopter.
The Army has more than 100 Dhruv helicopters deployed in all the operational areas including the heights of Jammu & Kashmir and the North-East.
"Slithering operation ceases for all ALH with immediate effect after the accident".
The incident occurred due to helicopter boom malfunction. The troops stationed near the "drop" zone rushed to the spot and ferried the injured to the hospital, officials said.
In order to determine the actual cause behind the accident which is yet not clear, an enquiry has been ordered by the Indian Army. The ceremony is being held annually on this day since 1949. "A team from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited that manufactures the chopper is in Delhi for investigation" he said.
Army Day is observed on 15 January every year to honour Lieutenant General KM Kariappa, who took over as the first commander-in-chief of the Indian Army on this day.
