Alexis Sanchez would be 'major signing' for Manchester United - Andy Cole

Manchester Evening News reports that Ozil wants reassurances about the ambitions of Arsenal before penning a new deal.

Teammate, Alexis Sanchez is closer to the exit door but it seems Arsenal will have Ozil playing in their colours next season.

However, it is said that Guardiola and Alexis himself prefer a reunion and the Cityzens may end up reaching a compromised agreement over the switch as soon as the Londoners find a replacement for their almost-former club talisman.

"There is still an opportunity for him [Ozil] to stay".

He said: "It looks like Sanchez will not extend his contract".

The report suggests Klopp is in ongoing discussions with the club's owners FSG to see if there is a way they can bid for Sanchez. We don't believe in signing a player just to do something.

"I wasn't inside but, from the outside, I think [Mark] is a guy with great qualities to do the job for them". Incidentally he's won trophies with us.

"But if there is a fantastic opportunity on the table, you fight for that fantastic opportunity. That's normal when you're at that level". The Chilean may not have liked it, but he definitely understood why, with 30 goals and 14 assists which made him the team's most productive player.

What we believe really is some players in football world, if you have a chance to sign them - it doesn't matter if it is in January, March or July - you have to try.

"So what is the player's calculation?"

I don't want to give you wrong information.

"I don't know, I don't know", said Conte.

"The only word I can say is he is a phenomenal player, apart from that Arsenal player and I feel I shouldn't say much more than this".

"So that basically, slowly, it's killing the transfers". The people speak more than usual what happens on the pitch.

Sanchez now has to decide whether to join City this month, wait until the end of the season and move as a free agent, or take the huge windfall on offer and join United now. Gabriel Paulista and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were both sold in the summer, Francis Coquelin left for Valencia this week, while Theo Walcott and Mathieu Debuchy could both be headed for the exit this month as well.
