BC-TEN-ASB Classic, 220 Del Potro, Bautista Agut to meet in ASB Classic finalFormer champions Juan Martin del Potro and Roberto Bautista Agut will meet Saturday in the final of the ATP Tour's ASB Classic after winning in contrasting semifinals.

Del Potro and Ferrer's rallies were generally shorter as they slugged it out from the baseline.

The Argentine served at 46% and he defended his games efficiently, saving 6 out of 7 break points and stealing rival's games 3 times after a poor performance from Ferrer on his second serve. Del Potro clearly overpowered the 18-year-old firing eight aces.

"I hope I can play even better than tonight", del Potro said.

While del Potro was trumped by the Spaniard in 2014, he has since beaten him three times, including at the 2016 Olympics and 2017 US Open.

"If he has a good day, he is very risky as a lefty, he serves well and volleys".

With all three sets going to tiebreak, the unerringly accurate Bautista Agut admitted he was feeling more than a touch tired on Friday.

Earlier, the world No.21 Bautista Agut found valiant opposition in the journeyman Haase, who recovered from a poor start to win the first set.

"I served really well in the second set and I tried to play aggressively".

"I knew he would fight until the end".

Del Potro will next be up against Russian Karen Khachanov in the quarter-finals, who has quickly been rising through the ranks recently.

However, with top seed American Jack Sock knocked out by German Peter Gojowczyk, Del Potro will be the favourite for the title.

"Unfortunately the match can not have two winners and I'm so happy I won", said the relieved Spaniard, who sank to his knees at the end.

In the doubles, Belarusian Max Mirnyi and Austrian Philipp Oswald will take on Austrian Oliver Marach and Croatian Mate Pavic.
