Chelsea target Vidal expresses desire to stay at Bayern

'Of course I would like to extend my contract.

Chelsea's £40m investment in Tiemoue Bakayoko hasn't quite gone to plan and the Blues are looking to improve in the midfield so they can mount a stronger challenge for the Premier League title next season.

Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski joined manager Jupp Heynckes in the Bundesliga record books after continuing his scoring streak on home soil.

"I'm not thinking about a transfer", Vidal told Sport1. "That's an option. My kids are very happy here, too", he continued.

With Ander Herrera also reportedly subject to interest from AC Milan, plans need to be put in place ahead of the summer to secure two midfielders at the very least.

The Texas-based team sent their youngest player signing, 16-year-old forward, Bryan Reynolds, who also represents the global level (U-17) along with 17-year-old Paxton Pomykal who became FC Dallas' youngest-ever starter in March.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper has extended his current deal, which was due to expire in the summer, until the end of the 2020/21 season.

Vidal has scored six times in 28 games for Bayern so far this season, helping his side carve out an 18-point lead at the summit of the Bundesliga.

"The past three years have shown that we can always rely on Sven Ulreich", said Bayern's director of sport Hasan Salihamidzic.

With key home friendlies next month against Spain and Brazil, Ulreich's strong performances for Bayern have put the goalie on Loew's radar just four months before the World Cup kicks off in Russian Federation.
