Customers were forced to go elsewhere as they were told the Colonel had run out of chicken. Even the name of the global fast-food chain has chicken on it - Kentucky Fried Chicken.
A company spokesman said: "We deliver our chicken fresh to our restaurants and unfortunately have had some hiccups with delivery today".
The source also said that DHL was not prepared for the challenge of supplying chicken to all the KFC restaurants in the country. "It's basically the end of the world".
KFC has admitted while the chicken may have crossed the road, it hasn't made it into many of its United Kingdom restaurants.
Some branches of fast-food chain, which has 900 restaurants in the United Kingdom, are opening for shorter hours, or operating a limited menu.
KFC was previously a client of Bidvest Logistics but has since swapped contract to enlist DHL for food deliveries.
'We're really sorry for any inconvenience, and we're working to have all our restaurants back up and running as soon as we can!'
Meanwhile, the moment KFC lovers saw a board that said the restaurant ran out of chicken, they took to their Twitter handle and expressed their disappointment.
"We are working with KFC and our partners to rectify the situation as a priority and apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused". Fried chicken fans were left disappointed after DHL suffered "operational issues" in chicken supply.
