HMD Global rolls out Android 8.0 Oreo update for Nokia 3

HMD Global rolls out Android 8.0 Oreo update for Nokia 3

If you've been waiting for HMD to finally update the Nokia 3 to Android Oreo, then today is the day you've been waiting for.

HMD Global is one of the companies that is well known for rolling out updates in a timely manner to all their devices, without being partial to only the expensive ones. Since it is an Android One smartphone, you can expect to continue receiving the latest security patch updates from Google every month.

The Android 8.1 Oreo update for the Nokia 7 Plus arrives as firmware version v2.13B.

A total of 7 113 Nokia Oyj (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) shares held by the company were transferred without consideration to participants of Nokia's equity-based incentive plan as settlement in accordance with the plan rules. It is impressive that Nokia is updating even its low-end phones like the Nokia 3, which can not be said for other OEMs. The new update comes with Android Instant Apps which declutter your already pure Android experience while helping the Nokia 3's battery last even longer by limiting background app use. The Nokia 6 (2018) and the Nokia 7 Plus was recently launched in India running on Android 8.0 out of the box. In February, HMD started the Oreo beta program for the Nokia 3, allowing owners of the smartphone to test what Oreo would look like on their device.

The Settings menu is improved and there are improvements to the camera and the battery with this new 8.0 update for the Nokia 3 smartphones.

THE Nokia 1 smartphone is now available in South Africa. The rest of the line up, the Nokia 1 and Nokia 2, cover the bare minimums, something that is also reflected in their pricing, at least Kshs 3,000-4,000 cheaper, and that comes with its own set of disappointing cutbacks feature-wise.
