Amid protests, two J&K BJP Ministers who backed Kathua rape accused, resign

Jammu: Two BJP ministers who had attended a rally in support of the accused in Kathua rape and murder case on Friday resigned from the Jammu and Kashmir cabinet led by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.

The BJP spokesperson also clarified that her party does not support the act of two BJP Jammu and Kashmir ministers who were seen at a rally supporting the alleged Kathua rapists.

Earlier on Friday, the BJP said the two leaders were "misled and misguided" by people. "So, the lesson to them is not to believe one side or the other and let the law take its course", she said, adding that they should not have joined the protest.

A Special Investigation Team, formed to probe the incident, has arrested eight people, including two special police officers (SPOs) and a head constable, who was charged with destroying evidence.
